A Conversation With Kim Guard

How long have you been volunteering in the community?

I have been volunteering in the community for about 20 years. Giving back to the community is something I am very passionate about, and feel that we need to give back to the community that gives to us.

How long have you been volunteering for The Valley Economic Alliance?

I have been volunteering for The Valley Economic Alliance (TVEA) since May 2014, and currently sit as Vice Chair of TVEA’s Management Committee.

Tell us a little about yourself.

I was born in Sacramento and currently live in Moorpark.

I have been a Franchise Owner of Express Employment Professionals (Express) located in Glendale since November 2013. I formerly owned an Express office in Oregon but decided to move to California to be closer to my family. Express is a leading staffing provider in the U.S., Canada and South Africa. Every day, we help job seekers find work and help businesses find qualified employees. Our mission at Express is to professionally market and provide quality human resource solutions through an international franchising network that profits our associates, customers, franchisees, corporate staff, stockholders and communities in which we conduct business.

What is one of your Passion Projects that you are working on?

One of my passion projects is volunteering at The Campbell Center in Glendale. The mission of The Campbell Center is to partner with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, empowering them to successfully gain independence and attain their desired outcomes through opportunity and choice.

Why do you continue to be a member of The Valley Economic Alliance?

I am a member of TVEA because they do great work making the Valley a better place to live and work by assisting the business, education, and government communities with access to invaluable resources, tools, and support.
